Oncolongist says: US use of experimental, limited nuclear weapons sends cancer rates rising.

Dr. Mahmud al-‘Amiri, Director of Oncology in al-Yarmuk Hospital in Baghdad, told the press on Wednesday that the current and still on-going war in the country was creating deadly diseases.

In a Baghdad press conference attended by a correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam, Dr. al-‘Amiri said “The United States has been using in its current war in Iraq 61 untested rockets, which it only tested in Iraq.  The US used uranium and limited nuclear weapons in very large amounts in al-Fallujah, ar-Ramadi, Samarra’, Mosul, Tall ‘Afar, and Ba‘qubah, and in an-Najaf with the Jaysh al-Mahdi, causing an increase in cancer cases.

Dr. al-‘Amiri drew on offical puppet ministry statistics quoting a rate of 40 cases of cancer every month afflicting Iraqis, with 7,500 cases of skin cancer alone registered at the end of last year.

Since the start of the US occupation and until today, the Dr. al-‘Amiri reported, there have been 140,000 cases of cancer of the skin, a large percentage of those in children between the ages of nine months and 10 years.  This shows that the US forces are deliberately trying to conceal the situation since its disclosure would constitute a historic scandal.

In major Resistance victory: Americans driven out of second-largest base in Kirkuk.

A series of Iraqi Resistance attacks over the past week that targeted the second-largest US base in Kirkuk finally forced US troops to abandon the base located in the west of the city on Wednesday.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in Kirkuk reported official sources in the puppet military as saying that the occupation forces were compelled to evacuate the base after a string of rocket attacks pounded the base and inflicted heavy damage on the facility.  The sources said that the repeated bombardments had left the base uninhabitable, and said that the occupation forces had moved all their military equipment to Kirkuk International Airport, where the Americans have their largest base in the area.

The US forces announced that the abandonment of the base followed the facility being dropped from a list of US military installations, due to its coming under repeated Resistance attacks.

Local residents told Mafkarat al-Islam that they see the base as having fallen militarily several weeks ago and not just now, because it was subjected to so many punishing missile strikes on a daily basis during that period.
