Resistance attack causes panic in US column as tank truck runs over Humvee.


At least four Americans were killed when their Humvee fell under the wheels of an American oil tank truck after an Iraqi Resistance attack.  A correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported that A US fuel supply column came under Resistance ambush and that in their panic, the crew of a Humvee at the head of the column drove under one of the tankers which ran over the vehicle and killed its occupants.


After that the Resistance hit the fuel truck with rocket-propelled grenades.  Afterward the Resistance fighters withdrew, leaving the Humvee and the oil truck ablaze.


The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported that the incident occurred at 9:30pm  Wednesday night Baghdad time on the highway north of al-Fallujah.  At least one American soldier would have been aboard the truck and three in the Humvee.


Resistance fires US missiles back at Americans.


Iraqi Resistance fighters in al-Fallujah fired five US missiles back at US forces at their base in the agricultural area near the city.  The local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces had earlier fired 17 rockets at al-Fallujah, but five of them failed to explode.


The Resistance, drawing on the expertise and skill of Iraqi weaponry experts, took the five unexploded rockets and reprogrammed and retargeted them and then fired them at the US camp in the agricultural area near the city at 5:00pm Wednesday afternoon Baghdad time.  The US rockets produced obvious and copious amounts of shrapnel when they exploded in the American camp.


US kills 30 civilians, wounds at least 60 in midnight attack on residential area of al-Fallujah.


The al-Fallujah correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported Wednesday night that at about midnight local time US forces had fired a rocket at a park in the an-Nazal neighborhood behind the flour mill in the south of al-Fallujah.  As a result of the attack, some 30 civilians were brutally martyred, all park and mill workers.


Thirteen bodies were later taken to the al-Hadrah Hospital.  Seventeen other bodies were taken along with wounded people (most of them with severe injuries) to al-Fallujah General Hospital.


In a report filed at 12:50am Mecca time (1:50am local time) the correspondent indicated that the total number of civilians killed in the US missile strike had risen to 30, all of them park workers and flour mill employees.  The total number of park employees is 60. Those who were not killed in the vicious American raid have been severely wounded.


The home of the correspondent is located a mere 2km from the scene of the blast, which was so massive that it shook his house violently.


After the attack, US aircraft dropped leaflets on al-Fallujah promising residents $45 million in reconstruction aid if they support the Americans, a move that has further deepened the local people’s contempt for the American aggressors.


Two Humvees destroyed, one Abrams tank knocked out, six Americans killed near as-Saqlawiyah.


Iraqi Resistance bombs exploded under a small US military column on the ath-Tharthar road between as-Saqlawiyah and Samarra’ at 5:30 Baghdad time Wednesday afternoon, destroying two Humvees and knocking an American Abrams tank out of action, according to the local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam.  At least six Americans are likely to have been killed in the Humvees alone. 


Two American troops killed in attack near as-Saqlawiyah Wednesday.


Iraqi Resistance forces attacked a US column on the highway near as-Saqlawiyah – north of al-Fallujah, destroying one Humvee and knocking another out of action, according to a report filed by the local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam.


After the attack, which took place at 11:00am Baghdad time, US forces closed the highway and sealed off the area.  Eyewitnesses told the correspondent that at least two Americans had been killed in the attack.  One witness who was on the road near the scene of the attack said that he saw at least two dead Americans on the ground, their bodies having been covered up with sheets.  He said four other Americans were borne away, but could not tell whether they were dead or wounded.


Resistance shoots down Chinook helicopter near as-Saqlawiyah.


The local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported Wednesday that Iraqi Resistance forces shot down a huge American Chinook helicopter in the al-Mashhab area near as-Saqlawiyah in western Iraq.  The correspondent wrote that an anti-aircraft rocket brought down the American craft at 9:00am Baghdad time Tuesday night.


The Chinook is one of the aircraft most vulnerable to Resistance anti-aircraft weaponry, as it is large and slow and easy to hit.  For that reason the US aggressors try to avoid using Chinooks except in “secure” areas or in dire necessity.


Resistance executes five spies in al-Fallujah’s square Wednesday morning.


The correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam in al-Fallujah reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters in the city arrested five spies working for the US occupation forces in the an-Nu‘aymiyah area to the south of al-Fallujah.  On Wednesday morning at 9:00am Baghdad time, the spies were shot on the public square (Sahat al-Ihtifalat) in downtown al-Fallujah.  Masked men carried out the execution.  One of them shouted, “this is the reward for those who betray God and His prophet.”


Six mortar shells slam into US facility in al-Qa’im.


Iraqi Resistance forces fired mortars at the US occupation base in the Customs area of the city of al-Qa’im on the Syrian border according to the local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam.  Six mortar shells, probably of 120mm caliber, exploded in the American facility at 2:30 local time Wednesday afternoon.  White smoke enveloped the area indicateing that the shells struck buildings inside the American compound.


Resistance bombs kill or wound dozens near Hit Wednesday evening.


Dozens of US troops were killed or wounded in the al-Baghdadi area near the city of Hit in western Iraq on Wednesday according to the local Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent.  A series of Iraqi Resistance bombs exploded under three US troop transport vehicles full of soldiers after sunset Wednesday.  The blasts turned the US vehicles into balls of flame and wreckage.


Resistance showers high-explosive Grad rockets on “green zone” as American-sponsored meeting is under way.


The Iraqi Resistance fired four powerful Grad rockets at the US headquarters in Baghdad known as the “green zone” Wednesday morning, and five other high-explosive Grad missiles at the first session of the US-sponsored so-called “Iraqi national congress” meeting in the occupied Iraqi capital.


The local correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces immediately closed off the area and all the roads and overpasses leading to the massive US compound – the most highly guarded in the country.  American troops together with their puppet police and puppet army stooges deployed in such strength that it suggested that casualties had been caused by the rocket attacks, according to observers, since such a heavy deployment is unusual after the almost daily rocket attacks on the US headquarters.


Witnesses told Reuters that the explosions terrified the 100 delegates to the US-sponsored gathering, that took place in a supposedly secure room within the area of the US headquarters in the Republican Palace – which the Americans have dubbed the “green zone.”


US aggressors murder 11 Iraqi Resistance captives, refuse to return bodies near al-Fallujah.


The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces at 11:00pm Tuesday night (Baghdad time) captured 11 Iraqi Resistance fightesr near the Jordanian Hospital east of al-Fallujah as they were attempting to carry out operations against the US invaders.


The correspondent in al-Fallujah writes, in a dispatch posted at 3:25pm Mecca time Wednesday that the US forces then murdered the 11 captives Wednesday morning in their base in the agricultural area near the city.


The correspondent reports that the bodies of the fighters were still at that time in the morgue outside the gates of the US base.  The police and civil defense forces in al-Fallujah attempted to retrieve the bodies but US forces threatened them with the same fate as the dead Resistance fighters if they tried to do so.


At the time of writing, negotiations were underway on the recovery of the bodies so that they can be buried, but the US forces are continuing to refuse and at the time of writing the bodies remained in the blue morgue.


Resistance bombs kill four US troops west of Baghdad Wednesday night.


At least four US troops were killed and three others wounded on Wednesday west of Baghdad at 10:15pm local time when Resistance forces attacked a US column.  According to the local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam, the US column consisted of several air conditioned trucks carrying food supplies for US forces and guarded by two Humvees in front and four in the rear.  The column was crossing the ar-Rudadiyah bridge that links the al-Ghazaliyah neighborhood with the al-Khadra’ neighborhood west of Baghdad.  The Resistance had planted bombs on the bridge in anticipation of the arrival of a supply column and the explosion destroyed one Humvee and knocked another out of action.


Resistance defends worshippers in Baghdad, kills five American troops.


Five Americans were killed and four others wounded late Tuesday night according to a report by a local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam.  The incident occurred on Hayfa Street in the al-Karakh district of Baghdad after the local people had completed their night time prayers at the local Mosque of Musa behind the Imam Muhammad Wahibi.  After the prayers as the worshippers were leaving the building, a US patrol consisting of five armored vehicles descended upon them and opened fire, driving the worshippers back into the mosque.  Cars parked on the street and stores in the area were also hit by the wild American gunfire.


Salim Abu Hammudah, an eyewitness who had attended the prayers, reported that after the worshippers had retreated to the relative safety of the mosque, Imam al-Wahibi used the mosque loudspeakers to call on local residents for help.  In less than three minutes Resistance fighters were on the scene, spraying the US troops with automatic weapons and light arms fire from behind their backs.  Five of the US troops were killed and four others wounded when the Resistance fighters lobbed hand grenades into their midst.


Abu Hammudah recounted, “we heard the sound of grenades and automatic weapons and after 10 minutes we came out and saw five bodies of American soldiers lying across from the mosque.  Four others had been loaded on one of the armored vehicles, and I think they were wounded.”


Abu Hammudah added, “we don’t know why they [the Americans] did that arrogant act, but it only makes us support the Resistance even more.”


Resistance fires seven mortar rounds into US al-Muthanna airbase in Baghdad.


In response to the US attack on a Baghdad mosque Tuesday night, Iraqi Resistance forces fired seven 120mm mortar shells into the al-Muthanna airfield in Baghdad Wednesday.  The local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the mortar barrage took place at 10:30pm Wednesday night Baghdad time.


Resistance pounds US forces near Ba‘qubah during Wednesday-Thursday night.


Iraqi Resistance forces fired rockets and mortar shells at the US base near Ba‘qubah, according to the local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam.  The attack took place at 1:15am Thursday, Baghdad time and Katyushas as well as 120mm mortar rounds were launched.

One US Bradley fighting vehicle was damaged by an Iraqi Resistance bomb north of Ba‘qubah at 11:00pm Wednesday night.


Resistance attacks facilities in Mosul.


The building housing US forces in Mosul near the Awburi Hotel was shelled by Resistance forces at 11:15pm Wednesday Baghdad time.  The governorate offices were also struck by Resistance mortar or rocket fire on Wednesday morning killing three puppet policemen and wounding 20 others.


Resistance fires Grad rockets at US base in Balad.


Iraqi Resistance forces fired three powerful Grad missiles at the US base in the town of Balad at 9:30pm local time Wednesday night, according to the local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam.


Resistance kills seven US troops in northern Iraq Wednesday night.


Seven Americans were killed on Wednesday when Iraqi Resistance forces attacked a US column between the cities of Bayji and Mosul in northern Iraq.  The local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported that at 9:00pm Baghdad time Wednesday, the US column of escort vehicles and troop transports carrying supplies between Bayji and Mosul came under attack as it passed near the al-Baj hills.  Two transports were totally destroyed and three troops killed .  One Humvee was also destroyed totally and four troops aboard it were also killed.  Eyewitnesses reported that the Resistance used rocket-propelled grenades in their attack and scored direct hits on the US vehicles.


Iraqi Resistance group announces it killed three Mossad agents and continues to hold one other.


A detachment of Iraqi Resistance fighters has announced that they executed three agents of the Zionist Mossad and captured a fourth to be held hostage in the north of Baghdad.  In an announcement posted on walls of Tikrit, the Resistance group that calls itself the Brigades of Fear (Kata’ib ar-Ru‘b), a part of the Secret Islamic Army, announced that their organization had captured and killed three of the Mossad agents after burning their car Monday on the road between Tikrit and Mosul.


According to Agence France Presse (AFP), the posted statement said that a fourth Zionist was being held to demonstrate that the US is taking part in a “dirty plot” against Islam and Iraq in league with the Zionists.  The statement said that the fourth Zionist agent said he had come to Iraq in accordance with an agreement with US forces.  He also said that he had taken part in interrogations of 100 persons being held by the Americans in their prisons, some of them women, with a view to recruiting the as spies for the US.


Criminal Ahmad Chelebi survives assassination attempt.


Convicted embezzler of $30million and long-time CIA agent Ahmad Chelebi survived an assassination attempt on Wednesday in Baghdad according to Reuters.  An aide to the criminal reported that armed men opened fire on his motorcade but he fled from the attackers.  Two persons accompanying him were wounded, however.


Assassination attempt targets so-called “justice minister.”


Resistance forces attacked the house of the puppet so-called Iraqi “minister of justice,” Malik Duhan al-Hasan with two rocket-propelled grenades without causing any injuries or loss according to a witness who spoke to the United Arab Emirates newspaper al-Bayan, Wednesday.  He said that the attackers came out of a car and fired their rockets at the house which is encircled by a high wall and massive armed concrete barriers.  They then left the scene.


Al-Hasan survived another assassination attempt about one month earlier when a car bomb exploded near his motorcade killing five of his body guards.

Resistance strikes northern oil pipelines.


Eyewitnesses reported that Iraqi oil pipelines burst into flames on Wednesday in northern Iraq near the main route for oil export to Turkey that runs between the Kirkuk oilfields and the Turkish border on the way to the port of Ceyhan.


A Reuters reporter witnessed the black smoke rising from the pipeline in the al-Hadar area west of Mosul.  It was unclear whether or not the line hit was the main export line.

Thirty US troops killed in violent battles in ar-Ramadi Thursday.


At least 30 US troops were killed on Thursday in ar-Ramadi when Resistance forces attacked a US sniper outpost and then battled American forces in the area.


The local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported that at 10:00am Thursday morning Resistance fighters armed with rocket-propelled grenades attacked a US Humvee parked outside the Garage building – a taxi stop for local travelers going to Baghdad.  The attack totally destroyed the Humvee and killed the five American troops who had been aboard it.


The Resistance also attacked the Garage building itself with rocket-propelled grenades because a group of US snipers had stationed themselves inside.  The third floor of the four-story building was set ablaze as a result of the Resistance fire and none of the Americans was seen leaving the building.


Fierce battles also broke out on Revolution-of-1920 Street.  In the course of the violent fighting, 25 Americans were killed.  The Resistance reported losing four men martyred and 10 others wounded.  The battles raged in the area from 10:00am until afternoon and in his report posted at 10:50pm Mecca time (11:50pm local time) the correspondent wrote that US forces still had the area sealed off.


Resistance attack leaves four US troops dead near ar-Ramadi.


Four US troops were killed when a Resistance bomb destroyed one Humvee and damaged a second that were taking part in a patrol in the ar-Rabtah area northwest of ar-Ramadi at about 10:00pm Thursday night Baghdad time, according to the local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam.


Resistance car bomb explodes in US training base at Saddam International Airport Thursday morning, killing 40 US and puppet troops.


An Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded inside the training center at Saddam International Airport near Baghdad on Thursday killing at least 40 US troops and Iraqi puppet forces, according to a report by the local correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam.


Sources inside the training camp told the correspondent that the explosives-laden Kia minibus exploded inside the camp at about 9:30am local time.  One witness said that he did not know exactly what happened, but that he heard a massive explosion and saw body parts flying everywhere.  The witness reported others as having seen the minibus storm into the camp, after the camp guards failed to hit the driver when they opened fire on the oncoming vehicle before the blast.  The driver kept his head far down in the vehicle as he slammed through the main gate.


One American killed in Baghdad ambush.


A joint US-Iraqi puppet police patrol came under surprise attack by Resistance forces in the al-Karakh district of Baghdad on Thursday.  Two vehicles were destroyed and one American soldier killed, according to a report by the local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam.


The joint patrol consisted of four US Bradley armored vehicles and three puppet police vehicles.  As it was passing along Hayfa street in the al-Karakh neighborhood, Resistance forces ambushed the patrol, launching a heavy barrage of rocket-propelled grenades against it at 10:00am local time.  The attack destroyed one Nissan used by the puppet police and knocked another out of commission.  After the attack, the Resistance fighters took away the puppet policemen’s weapons and then let them go.


Meanwhile, the surprise attack prompted the US troops to open fire indiscriminately, as is their standard practice, with their 30-caliber gun.  But the suddenness of the strike and the fact that one of the drivers of the armored vehicles had been killed forced the Americans to flee the scene quickly.


Resistance fires Grad missiles at US “green zone” headquarters.


Iraqi Resistance forces attacked the US occupation headquarters in Baghdad – what the Americans have dubbed the “green zone” in the Republican Palace – with rockets on Thursday morning.  The correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that three powerful Grad rockets crashed into the “zone” at about 8:30am.  Thick white smoke could be seen rising from the area, indicating that buildings there had been struck directly.


Five US troops killed in ambush east of Baghdad Thursday morning.


Five US troops were killed on Thrusday when Resistance forces attacked an American troop column east of Baghdad.  The attack took place 25km from the city in the direction of Ba‘qubah, and left one US troop carrier destroyed.  Such vehicles are used to supply the American forces.  The driver of the vehicle and his assistant were both killed in the attack.


A number of drivers who passed the scene told the correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam that the attack took place at 10:15am local time and that it also left three other American troops dead after one of the Humvees that was escorting the column was destroyed.


Resistance ambush south of Baghdad leaves two Americans, four Iraqi puppet troops dead.


A joint patrol made up of US troops and the puppet so-called “national guard” was attacked Thursday morning south of Baghdad.


The local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the attack took place in al-Latifiyah and left two American troops and four members of the “national guard” dead.  Residents of the north of al-Latifiyah told the correspondent that the Resistance fighters used BKCs and that three “national guard” vehicles were destroyed in the ambush.


Resistance pounds US positions in Baghdad with rockets.


During the night Thursday, Resistance fighters carried out several rocket attacks at US targets in Baghdad.  The local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported that at 11:55pm local time, Resistance fighters fired six mortar shells and three Katyusha rockets at the First Military College in ar-Rustamiyah.  The college is used by US aggressor troops and the puppet “Iraqi” army as a base where some 4,000 US troops are concentrated.


At 8:45pm local time the Resistance fired three Katyusha rockets at the US base at Saddam International Airport.


At 8:30pm local time the Resistance again struck the US occupation headquarters in what they call the “green zone” in Baghdad with two powerful Grad rockets


Al-Fallujah buries 11 Resistance martyrs murdered by US captors.


Much of the city of al-Fallujah on Thursday morning turned out for the funeral of 11 martyrs murdered after their capture by US aggressor troops, according to a brief notice posted by the local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam. (See “US aggressors murder 11 Iraqi Resistance captives, refuse to return bodies near al-Fallujah” in Iraqi Resistance Report, 1 September 2004.)


Resistance attacks US column near al-Yusufiyah early Thursday afternoon, destroys two armored transports.  US headquarters also attacked.


Iraqi Resistance forces attacked a US column as it advanced along the highway to al-Yusufiyah, south of Baghdad at 2:30pm Thursday afternoon, Baghdad time.


The local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam in al-Yusufiyah reported that the US column was made up of two US troop transport vehicles loaded with soldiers and supplies for the aggressor forces.  The Resistance used rocket-propelled grenades in their surprise attack and destroyed both vehicles, killing at least two US troops.


The US headquarters in the area, set up in the former meat packing plant, in order to be able to receive supplies for the US troops, came under attack as well at about 2:00pm when Resistance fighters fired twelve 120mm mortar shells at the facility.


Iraqi Resistance forces attacked US troops on the highway to al-Hadithah in the ‘Ajlan area, which lies 8km west of al-Hadithah city.  The local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the Resistance sprung on the US troops at a moveable American command post using a variety of weapons, and wiping out all the US troops in the position.


The correspondent reports that a driver in the area who witnessed the scene reported that the Resistance fired mortars and rocket-propelled grenades at the US forces, killing 19 American troops.  Some of the Americans were at first only wounded but then automatic weapons fire from the Resistance finished them off.


American troops raid home, shoot 16-year old girl to death.


US aggressor troops committed another crime in al-Khalidiyah, west of Baghdad, in the early hours of Thursday morning according to the local correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in al-Khalidiyah.  At 2:00am, American invader troops stormed into the home of Jabbar Mahdi Salih a resident of the as-Sadiqiyah neighborhood.  They were searching for persons suspected of taking part in Resistance activities.


Finding the man of the house out, the US troops tried to kidnap the young daughter of the family, Nur, a girl of 16.  When she tried to defend herself, the US troops fired three bullets into her head, killing her instantly.


Then the American aggressors attempted to kidnap Fadilah Kassar Mahmud, 56, wife of the man of the house.  She also fought back and the Americans shot her as well, seriously wounding her and then taking her into custody, despite her severe injuries.  The invader troops then set fire to the home.


Not yet satisfied with the destruction they had caused, the US troops also opened fire at the Mosque of Ziyad al-Kharabit setting it ablaze as well.


Four US troops killed in ambush in al-Qa’im.


Iraqi Resistance forces at dawn on Thursday used rocket-propelled grenades to attack a US patrol near the post office in downtown al-Qa’im, a city on the Syrian-Iraqi border.  The local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported that one Humvee was destroyed in the Resistance ambush that took place at about 4:00am Baghdad time.  Four Americans were killed in the attack


Resistance forces also fired fifteen 120mm mortar shells into the US base located in the Customs post area of the city at about 8:45am Wednesday night.


Resistance attacks US patrol Thursday night near al-Qa’im.


Iraqi Resistance bombs knocked three US vehicles in a US patrol out of commission in a Resistance attack near the city of al-Qa’im.  The local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the attack took place west of the city as a US armored patrol was passing at 10:30pm Thursday night, Baghdad time.


After the attack, US Apache helicopters prowled the skies above the scene to provide cover for the disoriented survivors.


Resistance fires at Czech diplomat’s car.


The Czech Foreign Ministry in Prague announced on Thursday that the Czech ambassador’s car came under fire in Baghdad on Wednesday but said that no one was injured in the attack in the al-Mansur district of the capital.  Reuters reported that the Czech embassy was working with the puppet police in Iraq to determine whether the attack near the ambassador’s residence was actually aimed at the Czech diplomat.


The Czech Republic’s ambassador to Iraq, Martin Klepetko, was in Prague at the time of the attack, and the Czech newspaper Pravo said that the two guards who were in the car at the time of the attack were unhurt, but that some 30 bullets struck the vehicle.


The Czech regime, a satellite of the United States since the collapse of the Warsaw treaty organization, supported the US aggression on Iraq and sent a field hospital to serve Washington after the US invasion.  Later Prague withdrew the hospital but replaced it with dozens of military policemen.


Pro-US militia demonstrates in al-Basrah.


Collaborationist Shi‘i chauvinist Badr Brigade militia held a military parade in al-Basrah on Thursday.  The local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the march began in az-Zubayr and wound its way to Celebration Square in the city, the group held an armed rally.  The Badr Brigades are the armed wing of the so-called Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI).  Their forces invaded Iraq in tandem with US troops in the spring of 2003 and the head of SCIRI was given a prominent place in the US puppet government in Baghdad.

Resistance attacks leave 12 US troops dead in al-Fallujah area Friday night.


Twelve US troops were killed when Resistance forces destroyed a US tank and a Humvee in al-Fallujah on Friday.  The al-Fallujah correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Resistance fighters fired two anti-tank weapons at a US Abrams tank, scoring a direct hit on the vehicle and totally destroying it.  At least five US troops who were aboard were killed.


Fighting erupted between the Resistance and the occupation forces between 9:30 and 10:05 Baghdad time in the area, which is located between the an-Nu‘aymiyah neighborhood and the ash-Shuhada’ neighborhood in the south of al-Fallujah.  In the course of that fighting, the Resistance totally destroyed one American Humvee, killing the seven US troops who were aboard it.


Meanwhile, the people of al-Fallujah on Friday night buried two of the local people killed in the American air and tank attacks on the an-Nu‘aymiyah neighborhood of the city.  The services for the martyrs took place around 10:10pm Baghdad time Friday night, according to the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent.


US air raids and shellings kill, wound numerous Iraqi civilians in al-Fallujah Friday night.


US aircraft and artillery pounded the city of al-Fallujah Friday night, targeting the an-Nu‘aymiyah area in the south of the city.  F-16 fighter bombers and tank cannon contributed to the barrage on the neighborhood, according to the al-Fallujah correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam.


Several houses were destroyed and preliminary reports indicate that four people were killed and eight others wounded, some of them severely.


Two of the dead were members of the “al-Fallujah Brigade” – the local police force set up under the cease fire agreement reached between the city and the US forces at the end of the American siege of the city in April.  Two other members of the force were wounded.  The American raid apparently initially targeted a barracks of the Brigade but then expanded to affect the neighborhood around it as well.  The attack, which started at 6:15pm Baghdad time  Friday evening, lasted for at least two hours.


Several civilians were killed in the US attack and dozens were injured.  At the time he filed his initial report, the correspondent wrote that local residents had been unable to take the wounded to hospitals because of the intensity of the American bombing and shelling that was still going on.


Later in the evening, the same correspondent reported that US snipers were in positions atop high buildings in the an-Nu‘aymiyah area and were shooting at emergency personnel trying to extract wounded people from the houses damaged in the bombardment.


It appeared that the US attack began in retaliation for the bloody day that the Resistance gave the Americans on Thursday with their assaults on US forces in ar-Ramadi, as-Saqlawiyah, al-Hadithah, al-Qa’im, and elsewhere.


Resistance bomb kills four American soldiers west of Baghdad.


Four American soldiers were killed on Friday when an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded at 1:00pm Baghdad time after a US patrol had passed the last American control point west of Baghdad on the road that runs from al-Ghazaliyah to Abu Ghurayb and on to al-Fallujah in the west.


The al-Fallujah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the blast destroyed one Humvee and killed the four American troops who were aboard it.


The correspondent wrote that when on patrols or riding as escorts of columns, the number of men aboard a Humvee is usually four or five.  When Humvees are used in raids, attacks, and house searches, they frequently carry more men – up to nine.


American killed Friday evening west of Baghdad.


One American soldier was killed at 8:00pm local time Friday night when the Bradley fighting vehicle in which he was riding was damaged in the ar-Ridwaniyah area west of Baghdad.  The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the soldier had been manning the machine gun on the Bradely vehicle and that he was thrown out.  Local residents observed his companions as they picked up his dead body.  The correspondent wrote that the soldier’s helmet was still in the possession of the local children who were playing with it.


US clamps down on villages near Syrian border after 15 Americans are killed in Resistance roadside bombing before sunrise Friday.


US forces tightly sealed off a number of villages east of the city of al-Qa’im on the Syrian-Iraqi border after 15 US soldiers were killed at dawn in that area on Friday.  The local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam in al-Qa’im reported that 15 American troops were killed at about 4:30 am local time when Iraqi Resistance bombs exploded as a US patrol was passing through the village of al-Qunaytrah east of al-Qa’im.  Three Humvees were also destroyed in the blast.


Residents of the area who witnessed the incident reported that the Resistance fighters used their automatic weapons to finish off any Americans who remained alive after the bombing.


In response to the attack and the killings, US troops imposed a blockade on several villages in the area, specifically: al-‘Atitah, 19km east of al-Qa’im; Sa‘dah, 10km east of al-Qa’im; ad-Daghimah, 30km east of al-Qa’im; and al-Qunaytrah, 20km east of al-Qa’im.


In a report posted at 10:10pm Mecca time (11:10pm local time) Friday night, the local correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam wrote that in addition to closing off the villages – which was still at that time in force, US aircraft had also bombarded al-Qunaytrah and al-‘Atitah, and US forces blew up the ar-Rummanah bridge between al-Qa’im and the village of ar-Rummanah.


US arrests governor, mayor, other al-Qa’im officials on charges of having ties to the Resistance.


US occupation troops on Friday arrested the governor of the city and region of al-Qai’im on the Syrian border.  US forces also arrested the Director of al-Qa’im municipality and a number of policemen from the city, all on charges of having relations with the Iraqi Resistance.


When the local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam filed his report on the arrests at 11:00pm Mecca time (12:00midnight local time), none of the officials had been released nor were any further details on their fates available.


US bombards villages east of al-Qa’im late Friday night.


In a report posted at 12:05am Saturday Mecca time (1:05am local time) the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in al-Qa’im reported that US forces were continuing to bombard a number of villages located east of the city of al-Qa’im in apparent revenge for a Resistance bombing that left 15 American troops dead in al-Qunaytrah village.


The correspondent wrote that the bombardment had begun at 11:45 Baghdad time and was still in progress at the time of writing.


Four American troops killed in ambush on fuel tankers south of Baghdad early Friday afternoon.


Four US troops were killed when Iraqi Resistance forces destroyed two fuel tank trucks transporting gasoline south of Baghdad.  The correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam in al-Yusufiyah reported eye witnesses as saying that a US column consisting of a number of fuel tank trucks came under Resistance attack on the International Baghdad Highway north of al-Yusufiyah (which is located south of the Iraqi capital).  The witnesses reported that the attack took place at 1:15pm Friday afternoon, local time, and that two tankers were totally destroyed, killing the four US troops who were aboard them.


Every US military tanker is supposed to have a crew of at least two persons: a driver and another soldier who rides shotgun, manning the 500 cannon through an opening in the surface of the front of the vehicle, according to the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent. The Resistance most commonly uses rocket-propelled grenades to strike at the tankers, a weapon that totally destroys the flammable vehicles and kills all aboard.


Resistance bomb kills US soldier west of Baghdad.


An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded under a US military column transporting supplies in the area of a large mosque known as the al-Jami‘ Area west of Baghdad.  The correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam in the area reported that the explosion destroyed one civilian supply transport vehicle that was being driven by a US soldier.  The blast killed the driver.


US C-130 transport plane hit by rocket, makes forced landing at Saddam International Airport.


A US C-130 airplane survived an Iraqi Resistance rocket by making a forced landing west of Baghdad.  The local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam wrote that Resistance fighters fired an anti-aircraft C5K missile at the plane, causing its left wing to catch fire.  The plane then made a forced landing at Saddam International Airport near Baghdad.  An airport worker told the correspondent that the fire that had blazed in the wing was put out on the ground.


The correspondent wrote that the C-130 and C-131 were regarded as among America’s better massive aircraft since they can drop heat rings to thwart heat-seeking missile attacks.  The aircraft are also equipped with armament that enable them to defend against attacks.  Nevertheless, the Resistance maintains that “with great difficulty” the airplanes can be hit as they take off and land using Strela or C5K rockets.


Six mortar shells strike US al-Muthanna airbase in Baghdad Friday night.


Iraqi Resistance fighters fired six mortar rounds at the US airbase at al-Muthanna in Baghdad on Friday, according to the Baghdad correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam.  The attack took place at about 10:30pm local time.  Sirens could be heard wailing inside the US camp, but no further information on casualties or damage was available.


Resistance pounds US base south of Baghdad with rockets and mortars Friday evening.


Iraqi Resistance forces fired Katyusha rockets and mortars at the US as-Suqur (“the Hawks”) base located north of al-Yusufiyah and south of Baghdad on Friday night.  The al-Yusufiyah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that he heard 13 explosions at about 7:45pm Baghdad time Friday evening coming from within the US camp.  No information is available on the extent of casualties or damage from the attack.


Powerful Grad missiles crash into US base at Saddam International Airport.


Iraqi Resistance forces launched a missile attack on Saddam International Airport, 20km southwest of Baghdad on Friday according to the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the area.   The Resistance fired three powerful Grad rockets into the American facility in the airport at 12:30pm Friday.  Two columns of very thick black smoke rose into the sky, indicating that two vehicles, ammunition, or similar appurtenances had been directly hit.


Resistance bombards American Ba‘qubah Airport base with mortars Friday.


The US occupied airport at Ba‘qubah, formerly a headquarters of Saddam’s Fedayeen but now a local US headquarters, came under repeated and intense Iraqi Resistance mortar bombardment on Friday, according to the correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam.  Ten mortar rounds had been fired at the base by the time his report was posted at 11:05pm Mecca time (12:05am local time).


Six American troops killed in attack south of Ba‘qubah Friday evening.


Iraqi Resistance forces attacked a US convoy made up of a number of armored vehicles and Humvees south of Ba‘qubah according to the correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam in that city Friday night.


The Resistance attack occurred at about 6:00pm Friday night (Baghdad time) and left one Humvee destroyed.  Five American soldiers, who had been aboard the vehicle, died in the attack.  One US armored vehicle was also knocked out of action , killing one soldier who was on it.


Iraqi puppet police seal off an-Najaf and al-Kufah out of fear of renewed fighting.


Iraqi puppet police sealed off the cities of an-Najaf and al-Kufah on Friday amidst fears that fighting might resume there.  Puppet police vehicles crowded onto the main road linking the two cities together.


The Qatari News Agency Qana reported that puppet policemen fired their weapons into the air as citizens approached their check points before the noon-time Friday congregational prayers.


Shaykh Ra‘d al-Kazimi, a Baghdad religious leader criticized the activities of the so-called “national guard” and the puppet police in preventing Shi‘i worshippers from getting to Friday prayers in the al-Kufah mosque.  He said that despite the obstructions, the prayers were offered there anyway, presided over by Shaykh Jabir al-Khafaji, who stated anew that the followers of Shi‘i religious leader Muqtada as-Sadr, who battled US troops for weeks in August, would now be taking the path of activity as a political organization.


Iraqi driver working for American Associated Press shot dead.


An Iraqi driver working for the American Associated Press (AP) was killed on Thursday near his home in the west of Baghdad.  The AP reported that puppet police sources reported that attackers opened fire several times on the car being driven by Isma‘il Tahir Muhsin in the al-Ghazaliyah neighborhood near his home.

US forces hold wounded woman hostage in al-Khalidiyah.


On Friday night US forces in al-Khalidiyah west of Baghdad still refused to release Fadilah Kassar as-Salih, “Umm Nur,” the wife of a man whose house they raided the night before.  In the course of the raid, US troops shot dead the woman’s daughter and then shot and severely wounded Umm Nur herself, before taking her into custody.


The al-Khalidiyah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported Friday night that US troops seek to keep Umm Nur in custody in order to entice her husband Jabbar Mahdi Salih, whom they believe to be involved with the Resistance, to turn himself in.
